In the Twinkling of an Eye

My Dear Child,

The action of winking may be simple for our body, but very important. Winking protects the eyes from the wind, from intense light; it also helps to distribute the tears in our eyes, whenever we laugh or cry. It also helps to give the brain a short rest.

A person blinks approximately every five seconds, but the speed or constancy of the blink depends on the activity we are doing. When we read or are in front of a screen, the eyes blink slower because of the attention that is required. It’s good to close your eyes to give them a break, but, unless it’s not your time to take a nap, don’t fall asleep while doing this exercise!

The Bible tells us, “In the twinkling of an eye, when Christ returns…  we will be transformed.” 1 Corinthians 15:52

With much love,
